AstraZeneca is seeking a Senior EUCAN Medical Affairs Leader with oncology and medical affairs expertise to join our EUCAN Medical Affairs team. This role reports directly to the EUCAN Head of Medical Affairs.
The Senior EUCAN Medical Affairs Leader drives regional medical strategy across EUCAN, ensuring timely, high‑quality input into global and regional plans and supporting country execution. The role builds long‑term partnerships with external stakeholders (advocacy groups, scientific organisations, thought leaders, HTA/payers) to strengthen AstraZeneca’s scientific leadership. Operating in a cross‑functional matrix (medical, development, commercial, access) and partnering with EUCAN country teams across the EU‑27, the leader aligns publications and evidence generation to tumour strategy, leads insights and advisory boards, and coordinates externally sponsored research and collaborations. The role enhances education and patient initiatives, contributes to the broader portfolio strategy, and shapes value delivery for healthcare professionals, systems, and patients.
Essential Requirements:
·Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD)
·Significant Medical Affairs experience with at least 10+ years total of pharmaceutical or relevant medical/clinical experience
·Demonstrated leadership skills in a cross-functional team environment
·Proven understanding of the lifecycle of the oncology compounds, competition, solid tumours disease areas, such as Lung, breast, ovarian, gastric and pancreatic cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma
·Understanding of drug development and commercialization processes including understanding of outcomes research /payer access gateways
·Proven ability to generate, analyse and interpret clinical trial and published data
·Track record of successfully developing and executing Medical Plans both in terms of evidence generation, scientific communications and external expert engagements
·Ability to manage multiple projects and products simultaneously to ensure timely, on-target and within budget accomplishment of tasks
·The candidate is expected to have an ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including research and development, marketing, health outcomes and access teams
·Good communication and presentation skills in English
